Yesterday, I had a conversation with a consultant talking about broadband content.

What kind of content would be popular, locally? Local TV content?

I doubt it. It's precisely because local TV is so lacking in appeal that pay TV like Astro is doing so well.

That is why I doubt that efforts like WorldIP.TV will work.

Firstly, the content on offer is not unique. Secondly, you are asking people to pay for it.

I believe IPTV has a future but the type of content that people would want to consume on their laptops and mobile phones will be very different from recycled, reformatted versions of existing TV shows.

It's got to be something that people can't get elsewhere, it's got to be tailored for a small screen (even laptop screens are tiny compared to regular TV monitors) and it's got to be cheap (ideally free and paid for by a mix of sponsorships and advertisements).
