Andrew Graham joins UK's booming Plasmon

UK storage product maker Plasmon has named the much-travelled Andrew Graham as the new managing director of its sales and marketing division.

Graham, a widely respected veteran of SyQuest, Iomega, Escom, Sony and Merisel, joins after Plasmon recently completed its first year as a public company on the London Stock Exchange, making a £896,000 profit on sales of £26.1 million. Royston, Cambs.-based Plasmon is gearing up to be able to manufacture one million CD-R drives per month, and is also a big player in CD jukeboxes.

"It's great working for a British company that's growing," Graham said. "The optical market is where I see storage going and I believe DVD is where we'll end up because of the cost of making the media. We're the only optical manufacturer based in Europe, so we're geared up for that. The issue is getting the sales when you're not a [brand name like] Sony or a TDK, and that will be my job."
