Security firm's shares boosted as SurfControl considers bid...

Baltimore Technology shares surged yesterday after the company admitted it had received a number of offers for its content business. The Content Technologies division is thought to be a target for SurfControl, although Baltimore chiefs would neither deny or confirm whether the web filtering specialist had tabled a bid. SurfControl told Reuters late on Tuesday that it was interested in taking over the business. The company creates software that blocks employee access to pornographic websites at work. Baltimore shares rose £5.7 per cent on the speculation and were further buoyed by news that acting CEO Paul Sanders bought stock worth £19,850 on Wednesday.
