in brief IT services company DWS Advanced Business Solutions has boosted staff numbers by 3 per cent over the last 12 months to 550 on the back of $3.29 million, or 14 per cent record lift, in earnings before tax, interest, depreciation and amortisation.

The company, responsible for the design, build and maintenance of the $10 million Australian Tax Office (ATO) e-tax program, listed a record after tax profits of $18.52 million in its full-year financial results to 30 June 2010, up 16 per cent on 2009 results. The company announced profit across all of its regional operations.

The majority of the company's 17 new staff will work in the company's core consulting business, with sales the only other unit to have gained recruits.

DWS retained the $10 million three-year ATO contract in September last year after it secured the deal through its acquisition of services firm Turnaround Solutions.

In April, the company appointed Vivian Clark as the new chief executive officer of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Graeme V Jones & Associates.
