Eye Opener: Net community watch

A look at the organic and random growth of the Web's online world.
Written by ZDNET Editors, Contributor
The online community is evolving to become much more organic and random than its early counterparts.

For instance, instead of Cancer Survivors Online Community, we have The Open Diary, which has fostered a community linked solely by participants' diary entries.

What do these people share in common? Not geographical location, not career or hobby interests. And yet, they're engaged in an ongoing dialogue that started simply because they came together, rather randomly, on the Internet.

ZDNN's Maria Seminerio will have the story in our Monday Eye Opener.
