The European division of distribution giant Merisel was today bought by German distributor CHS Electronics in as deal worth about $160 million. The buyout included all European countries except Russia, and also covered Latin America and Mexico.

"This makes us the largest distributor in Germany and France and the second largest in the UK, ahead of Ingram Micro but behind Frontline," said Jason Boxall, channel marketing manager of Merisel UK. "It also makes us the largest distributor in Europe, ahead of C2000, and gives us a $1 billion business in Latin America."
