Reversing a previous decision, Kevin Mitnick's probation officers have given the notorious cracker permission to lecture, work as a security consultant and write a column for a soon-to-be-launched Web site. Defense lawyer Donald Rudolph said the probation office specifically approved four assignments for the 36-year-old Mitnick: writing a column on computer magazines for Contentville.com, a speaking engagement in Los Angeles, a job as a computer-security consultant and an appearance at a computer show in the fall. It was not known how much Mitnick would be paid. Full story to follow. -- Mike Brunker, MSNBC
