Motorola has sold its multi-services networks division to private equity firm Platinum Equity. The unit designs and manages networks, typically based on internet technologies, for customers. The move means a change of employer for around 600 Motorola staff, predominantly based in Massachusetts, and is consistent with the company's plans of disposing of non-strategic assets. Details of the financial terms of the deal, expected to close by year's end, were not available.
