News Burst: Oftel challenges BT's local loop monopoly
It's bad news for BT and good news for its rivals: industry watchdog Oftel today announced plans to demolish BT's local loop monopoly paving the way for high speed data services to the home and business.
In what Oftel has called 'one of the most important decisions in recent years', the telecoms body opened the latest chapter in its 'Access to Bandwidth' proposals -- which seeks to overcome bandwidth problems and accelerate the delivery of high speed data services.
