Samsung Notebook 7 spin

With its new Notebook 7 spin, Samsung looks to address much of what potential buyers will look for in a Windows 10 laptop.

Want the flexibility of the increasingly popular convertible form factor? As its name suggests, the Notebook 7 spin includes a 360-degree touchscreen display that allows you to use the device as a 13.3-inch or 15.6-inch tablet with the screen laid flat. It also works in "tent" mode for video viewing, and Samsung is touting a Video HDR mode that it claims will optimize footage on the 1,920x1,080 (full HD) screen.

Want the latest components? The Notebook 7 spin will ship in three different configurations, all using the newest Intel Skylake processors, either the Core i5-6200U (13.3-inch version) or i7-6500U (15.6-inch model). The 15.6-inch edition also squeezes in an Nvidia GeForce 940MX graphics card, with the pricier one including a 128GB solid-state drive in addition to the standard 1TB hard drive. Connectivity includes both a USB 3.0 and a USB Type C port, and Samsung adds a keyboard with automatic backlighting.

Need a laptop that won't take hours to charge? The Notebook 7 spin features a quick-charging mode that will extend battery life two hours after you charge it for just 20 minutes. The larger version can fully charge in 90 minutes, while the 13.3-inch model can be fully juiced in 100 minutes.

Finally, can it do it all without breaking the bank? Though you won't confuse its price tag with budget-friendly Windows 10 convertibles, the Notebook 7 spin's $799.99 starting price for the 13.3-inch laptop is not out of synch with its feature set. You will have to pony up more cash for the 15.6-inch editions, however: $999.99 for a version with 12GB of RAM, or $1,199.99 for the configuration with 16GB of RAM and the additional SSD. The Notebook 7 spin will be available at Best Buy locations and its website (as well as through Samsung's own site) beginning on June 26.
