Worldwide service provider router and switch revenue hit $1.86 bln in Q3 2005, up 3% from Q2 2005, led by strong IP core and edge router growth, both of which grew 7%. Cisco leads in worldwide total service provider router and switch revenue, with 41%, followed by Juniper, and Alcatel overtakes Nortel for third place. Cisco leads in IP edge router revenue with 51%, followed by Juniper with 20%, and Alcatel with 10% after their edge router sales more than doubled in Q3 2005. IP edge router revenue is up 7% sequentially and 22% annually, totaling $874 mln in Q3 2005, Infonetics reports.
