Sophos sweeps UK business award

Abingdon, Oxfordshire-based anti-virus software vendor Sophos this week won business investor 3i's Quest for Growth award and £50,000 star prize.

Sophos was voted Britain's smartest medium-sized independent business out of 300 contenders. Finalists included distributor Software Warehouse who received £5,000 for charity.

"I think we have a good history of growth and an exceptional level of profitability," said Sophos' managing director, Peter Lammer. "We've developed our own anti-virus technology which is a world leader in its field. We have an excellent team of about 50, and it's a great team."
