The contracts are for a minimum of 20 megawatts of solar power across the installations.

Among the SunPower contracts:

  • The company will construct a 2 megawatt solar power system at the Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL). The project will cover three sites including an office complex, a parking area and parking garage. The project, expected to be completed by the end of 2011, is being financed through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009.
  • The General Services Administration (GSA) and general contractor Shiel Sexton will install a 1.8 MW solar system at the General Emmett Bean Federal Building in Indianapolis, Ind. The rooftop solar power system will be complete in January.
  • SunPower was one of five providers awarded an indefinite contract from the Naval Facilities Command. The plan is to install solar power systems throughout Navy and Marine installations in the southwest. SunPower previously announced that it will install a 15-MW solar power system on an Arizona Air Force base.
