Managed services company Hostworks has scored a lucrative deal with cinema and resort parent, Amalgamated Holdings Limited (AHL).

Umbrella parent to brands including Event Cinemas, Greater Union, Rydges Hotels and Resorts and Thredbo Ski Resort, AHL has been using Hostworks to manage its online environment since 2006.

According to Hostworks' general manager of sales and marketing, Shane Baker, the two companies have signed a new, expanded five-year deal.

"This new contract will see Hostworks manage the online and corporate IT infrastructure environments for each of AHL's premium Australian brands for a 60-month term, as well as providing disaster recovery services," Baker said.

"AHL will be using Hostworks Utility/Elastic Computing, Content Distribution, Enhanced Backup and User Experience Monitoring solutions. This in turn will provide an enhanced user experience, improved content delivery, automated internal business processes, improved cost certainty and the ability to scale capacity up and down especially during peak load periods," he added.

Hostworks declined to put an exact dollar value on the contract, only saying that it was a multimillion-dollar consideration.
