Several Malaysian outfits have tried to do online TV. Two notable ones were Cyberjaya.tv and Malaysia.tv. Both are now defunct.

There was even a stillborn attempt by famous TV news anchor and producer Suhaimi Sulaiman. He's now gone back to traditional TV.

But that hasn't stopped others from trying. Cuzzy Media is the latest of the online TV players that are still trying to make it work.

Its offerings, through its Original Channel Creation and Operations (OCCO) unit, will be a mix of original and purchased content.

Actually, Cuzzy specializes in producing online video advertisements for its clients, which are then uploaded to various video sharing sites including Cuzzy's own Xtreme Broadband Broadcast TV (XBB TV).

Will Cuzzy succeed where others have failed? The format is important, but even more important is content. It's good to have some original content but the fact that it's original or local content is not enough. It has to be compelling stuff.

What constitutes "compelling" is the proverbial 64 thousand dollar question.
