US stealth bombers uncloaked by mobile phone masts

The stealth bomber, pride of the US air force and long-hailed for being undetectable by enemy radar, has been revealed, quite literally, as having a vulnerability: mobile phone base stations can 'uncloak' the high-tech planes. The discovery was made by scientists at Siemens' Roke Manor Research site, who have developed equipment which, when used in conjunction with the base stations, make the planes visible again. The system works by sending a constant signal between phone masts and creating an invisible screen that is broken whenever an aircraft passes through it. Combining this breakthrough with GPS (global positioning system) tracking technology, the Hampshire based lab boys say they can detect and locate all enemy aircraft - including the stealth bomber.
