Welcome to Disaster Recovery, ZDNet Australia's behind-the-scenes look at the goings-on in enterprise technology.

This blog should give you, the technology professional, more insight into the people and products that affect your job. Both Iain and myself look forward to sharing with you some of the insights and amusing incidents we often observe, but can't always report, in news stories.

Most importantly though we want to discuss issues with you, our readers, more often. So if you feel you can add something to the debate, or agree/disagree with what we say, please feel free to post a comment on the blog. For instance, what would you like to see on the blog? We'll be checking feedback and replying regularly. We want your input.

We chose the name Disaster Recovery based on its deep relevance to the enterprise technology community. While so much of your time -- and that of your team -- is spent helping business units drive growth, it's when things go wrong that you really earn your stripes. With everyone from sales to finance to the chief executive officer howling as business grinds to a standstill due to a massive outage, skilled technology professionals must keep a cool head and sense of humour to retrieve the situation.

We're excited about Disaster Recovery, and we hope that, with your help, it'll become a valued source of insight and debate for Australian IT professionals.
