Yahoo lays off workers at Launch Media

Yahoo says it has cut 14 jobs from Launch Media, the online music service it recently acquired, and plans to cut 36 more at some point before the end of the year. The Web portal said about 125 employees will remain at the Launch Media subsidiary after the layoffs. A representative for Yahoo said the cuts were made to eliminate duplication.

In June, Yahoo agreed to acquire Launch Media, which operates a Web site that offers streaming audio, music videos and news, and artist information, in a cash-for-stock deal valued around $12 million. --Reuters and Jim Hu, Special to ZDNet News
