Three UK launches unlimited data Euro Roaming pass

Whenever I'm packed, the passport and ticket are stowed away and I'm off to my next European jaunt, I expect extortionate roaming charges.

Ever since one unpleasant experience in Prague -- leaving a mobile dongle connected to my laptop which decided to update itself to the latest Windows security patch and therefore draining a week's wages -- I've been careful.

Usually, it's simply an excuse to be able to leave my smartphone turned off for the trip. For students undergoing their ritual backpacking trip around Europe, however, it can be an expensive process, unless you're willing to purchase local and data-enabled SIMs in every country you visit.

If you're a Three customer, this may be about to change.

Three UK have just launched its new Euro Internet Pass. For £5 ($7.70) per day, in a number of European countries you will be able to hang out on your social networks, look up the next train time and find somewhere to eat without dreading the end-of-month phone bill.

Customers on its pay monthly tariffs can sign up for the pass. Once you touch down in a European country, you are sent a link to a sign-up page. If you want to activate the service for the day, turn on roaming and it the link to buy it,

However, it is offered on a midnight-cut off premise, and if you visit other sites before the pass is activated, current rates are charged at £1.28 per megabyte ($2).

Currently, it is available in:

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal (incl. Azores & Madeira), Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain (incl. Balearic & Canary Islands), Sweden, Vatican City, and Monaco.
