Agilent Technologies Inc. today opened the Singapore Microelectronics Modeling Center (SMMC), a high frequency electronic modeling center that will help to accelerate the debelopment of wireless products.
SINGAPORE, 23 May 2000 - Mr Lai Yeow Hin, deputy director of the Electronics Industry Development Divison of the Singapore Economic Development Board, officially opened the center.
The SMCC will focus on developing technologies for Agilent's Electronic Design Automation (EDA) device model generation and on creating IC libraries for advanced high frequency devices used widely in the wireless design industry, semi-conductor foundries and component maufacturers.
The SMCC will also develop statistical device models, used to predict and optimize manufacturing yields.
Agilent Technologies has chosen to locate the SMCC in Singapore because of the high projected growth of the design automation business in Asia and the strategic importance of Singapore as a gateway for advanced technology development throughout Asia.
