All American vehicles more fuel-efficient? Not likely

So the U.S. House of Representatives has passed a new energy bill, which now moves into an unknown future.

So the U.S. House of Representatives has passed a new energy bill, which now moves into an unknown future. But likely this proposed law is dead before arrival. It faces both a Senate filibuster, and then a Presidential veto which would be very difficult for Congress to over-ride.

One key proposed change in this bill: more fuel-efficient cars and light trucks in America by 2020. The U./S. already lags far behind both China and Europe in vehicle efficiency. They are the next two biggest polluters behind the U.S. in the greenhouse gas division of the environmental demoliton derby.

As always, many individuals and families are NOT waiting for the feds. Energy efficient cars are popular with many Americans, like the soon to released Smart Car.
