Doc Searls defines his position on blograking aka making money with, as opposed to because of blogs. I've been blogging for food for months now, and boy am I hungry. But I'm podcasting for air, and getting plenty of it, hot and otherwise. Sez Doc:

Whatever replaces advertising (as we've known it)is also essential to the prosperity of these new journals. Is it justgoing to be whatever Google and Yahoo and Blogads do? No. It will beall that and much more. (Like, for example, a way to voluntarily pay --even a small amount, micropayment style) for subscriptons to RSS feeds, just like we voluntarily pay for public radio and TV broadcasts.
Sez I: no way, Jose. Not even a small amount. But I will pay attention--in the form of metadata--to let the network, and advertisers know what I am interested in, when, and for how long, or not. That will be more than sufficient payment for access to content on one end and self-selecting primed customers on the other.
All that and much more? You bet. Voluntarily pay--not if I'm already getting all the podcasts I can eat.
