AltaVista goes multimedia
Compaq Computer Corp.'s AltaVista division has unveiled a new search engine that allows users to look for photos, and video and audio clips.
The AV Photo & Media finder will let users scan for audio formats including MP3, RealAudio, WAV, and AU and video formats including RealVideo, QuickTime, ASF, MPEG, and AVI. The results will produce thumbnail sketches and brief descriptions of the sites found.
