The president of Amiga has begged his loyal "Amigans" to take heart from a recent decision to abandon the lean Unix OS, QNX, in favour of Linux. Linux will be at the heart of Amiga's new operating environment according to the company.

Jim Collas, president and CEO of Amiga, says in a letter published at the Amiga website on Saturday: "PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not to judge the Linux decision until you have a chance to read the technology brief."

Collas also tries to play down Amiga's dithering over the choice. "Whether we use QNX or Linux, the new Amiga will be exciting, elegant, easy to use, incredibly efficient and yes, truly revolutionary," he says.

Linux on the Amiga?

Could this be what Amiga needs?
