About.me, a site that allows folks to create one page aggregating their identities around the Web, barely got out of a private beta before it was scooped up by AOL.

AOL on Monday said it will acquire About.me for an undisclosed sum.

When the deal is complete, About.me and its management team will join AOL and work under Brad Garlinghouse. About.me will be based in AOL's Palo Alto, Calif. headquarters. With the move, AOL appears to be layering in more personalization.

AOL has been buying up a series of smaller players. Last week, AOL acquired Pictela.
