Following the huge backlash (Techmeme) that erupted in the wake Apple's decision to push Safari to all Windows users via the Apple Software Updater, the company has made some tweaks to the UI in an attempt to improve matters.

![Say NO! to Safari](https://www.zdnet.com/a/img/2014/10/04/82293c5d-4b74-11e4-b6a0-d4ae52e95e57/saynotosafari.png)
On the down side, Apple continues to push Safari to Windows users and continues to pre-check the download. However, users be bothered by prompts for new software downloads unless the Apple Software Update application is run manually. Only software updates will trigger a nag screen - but since we're talking about an updater that covers QuickTime here, users are still going to see plenty of nags.
Finally, am I the only one left with the impression that Apple will try to shove more software onto Windows users via this mechanism in the future? The UI certainly makes it seem that way to me.
Thoughts?
