The following is a wrap-up of Apple's Lets Rock media event today in San Francicso which began at 10:00 am PT.

iTunes Stats:

  • 8.5 million songs
  • 125,000 podcasts
  • 30,000 TV shows
  • 2600 movies
  • 3,000 apps for iPhone and touch

iTunes 8:

  • HD TV shows. US$1.99 (SD), US$2.99 (HD)
  • NBC is back (The Office, 30 Rock, etc.)
  • Grid view allows you to browse by album cover, genre
  • Genius feature allows you to make playlists from songs in your library that go together
  • Genius sidebar makes recommendations from the iTunes store
  • Genius sends data about your iTunes library to Apple (anonymously), combines it with info from others, and it gets smarter
