AT&T is bringing free Wi-Fi access to select New York City parks this summer. Too bad it's unbearably hot outside today for anyone to use it. At least then the network won't be that congested!
Anyway, the offer is still pretty sweet for New Yorkers once the temperature drops by a degree (or 10 to 15) who want to sit in the park with their Wi-Fi-enabled tablets, e-book readers, smartphones and laptops. There's always the Mi-Fi option for those who have it, but why bother with those when this is completely free? (FYI, they'll also be free to the taxpayers at the expense of AT&T.)
The hotspots will be available in 20 parks (listed below) throughout the five boroughs starting today for everyone (not just AT&T customers). Who knows how long it will last - hopefully forever!
