HP and the State of California are dealing with the printer cartridge. Have they found a way to prevent thousands of these babies from going into landfill? That's their goal. he State of California is the second largest government in North America, bhind only the behemoth that squats in Washington D.C. That means thousands of printers and their cartridges.

Let us observe a moment of silence for the dream of the paperless office. Stop laughing!

HP and the state government will work toward two goals: recycling all used printer cratridges, and installing new, energy-efficient printers in more state agencies. There';s the bigt win for HOP, more sales. But if the program works, California expects to save $2 million annualy in printing-related costs.

Further pluses from the program: divert 100 tons of print cartridges from landfills annually. Reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 500 tons per year.
