Biofuel blasted by nay-sayers

The international boom in biofuel production is NOT a good thing according to some international watchdog groups. Friends of the Earth and others just published a report asking the European Union to stop pushing for more biofuel production.

The report especialy criticizes practices in Indonesia where native forests and tribes are being displaced by the palm oil boom.

Just last week a University of MInnesota study looked at the dark side of biofuel boom: clearing land of forest or grasslands to grow the biofuel crops. That study concluded biofuels are not necesarily a net gain for the environment.
