Boardbooks app comes to Windows tablets

Board management software provider Diligent Board Member Services will launch its Boardbooks app on Windows 8.1 devices later this week.

The tool offers access to company information and tools for board members to annotate, discuss and vote on it.

Kevin Turner, chief operating officer at Microsoft, said Boardbooks is one of the most advanced B2B apps and is designed to capitalize on the capabilities of Microsoft’s Windows 8.1 user interface.

"As a board member myself, I am excited that I can now access my board materials with Diligent’s world-class application on my Surface Pro,” he said.

Diligent says Boardbooks for Windows 8.1 allows directors to sync and view board materials by board or committee; access annotation and voting items, and have the control to manage their own materials or annotations after meetings.

In January, New Zealand-listed Diligent notified shareholders its financial filings from 2007 through to 2012 needed to be restated due to accounting errors and its previously issued financial statements and press releases should not be relied upon.

Last month it notified shareholders its annual report would be filed late due to the need for them, and the restated statements, to be audited first.

The company said Boardbooks app users on the iPad will find a parallel experience on Windows devices, giving directors the option of using Windows tablets.

“We see a major market opportunity ahead for Microsoft’s latest Windows operating system with the combination of Windows 8.1 tablets and business apps driving user adoption,” said Alex Sodi, president and CEO of Diligent.
