Ebusiness applications supplier BroadVision plans to enable advanced communications over wireless devices by delivering localised information to mobile users.

BroadVision has added wireless capabilities to its applications with standards such as XML, XSL, Java and JavaScript. Barry Briggs, CTO for BroadVision, said: "The wireless world offers much promise with increasing device capabilities and rapid user adoption. However, simply squeezing a traditional website onto a wireless device is not enough." Briggs said users need content personalised for them and their devices so that they can quickly get what they need. BroadVision believes its mobile solution will provide greater relevance through location-driven factors, which determine how to deliver content and which content is delivered. Albert Pang, an analyst at IDC, said: "BroadVision had a fabulous year in the ecommerce software applications market on the strength of its internet sales and marketing products as well as its expertise in personalisation technology." IDC notes that BroadVision's success can be attributed to a combination of well-crafted technologies. Pang also pointed out that the company is showing strong momentum because of its ongoing advancement in providing B2C and B2B applications and extending these applications into the wireless market.
