'Reverse auction' model allows consumers looking for venues to host their functions to list requirements online

The Asia-Pacific’s online city guide, CalendarONE.com has launched its VenuesFinder service, an innovative service based on the ‘reverse auction’ model where venue owners can dynamically accept or decline leads submitted by consumers.

Providing a unique match-making service between venue owners and consumers, VenuesFinder allows users to search for suitable venues by listing their requirements and budgets online at http://www.CalendarONE.com/venuesfinder, and then presenting these requirements electronically to venue owners who will subsequently bid for these leads.

This buyer-driven commerce model allows users to save time and effort in scouting for the appropriate venue to host their function by enabling them to specify their preferred venue and services. For the venue owners as well, CalendarONE.com brings them sales leads in the form of emails stating contact details of the users and their requirements, matching the facilities offered by the venues.

To submit their requirements, users need only to go to CalendarONE.com’s VenuesFinder website and fill out a form. An immediate response will be generated listing the appropriate venues and simultaneously, an email will be sent to these venues informing them of the potential lead. Appropriate venues will then contact the potential users regarding fulfillment of their requests.

"The explosion of the web in recent years has increasingly shifted the balance of power between buyers and sellers towards the buyer," says Mr Goh Kim Siew, CEO of CalendarONE.com. "Now, especially with the plethora of free services being offered on the web, the buyer has been placed predominantly in the commanding position. In line with this phenomenon, CalendarONE.com’s mission is to develop local eCommerce services which empowers buyers to utilize the efficiency of the Net to get things done more quickly and cost-effectively."

Added Mr Goh: :VenuesFinders’ reverse auction business model is powerful in that it works both ways to increase efficiency and cost-savings. On the one hand, the consumer is contacted by the venue owners regarding venue availability so no time is wasted searching for venues. On the other, CalendarONE.com brings sales leads to the venue owner’s doorstep, supplementing their sales force and marketing efforts."
