There is a "fundamental change among business and government leaders" and they are talking "innovation, job creation and technology in a continuous stream."

Cisco CEO John Chambers said Wednesday that there is a "fundamental change among business and government leaders" and they are talking "innovation, job creation and technology in a continuous stream."

Chambers urged IT leaders to translate technologies into business terms. Virtualization and cloud computing won't fly, but revenue per employee, productivity and enabling goals will, said Chambers, speaking at the Gartner Symposium in Orlando.

In India, Chambers said Cisco has talked to government leaders about changing the education system. Video, collaboration and enhanced networks can make social changes, he said.

"Government and business leaders have to catch market transitions just like the IT community has to," said Chambers.
