Cisco expands security solutions with open platform, analytics
Cisco will expand its safety and security lineup with new open platform applications and analytics, the company announced Tuesday. The company's security ecosystem will integrate with Cisco Internet of Things products, with the goal of providing developers a common platform to deliver solutions for public safety, utilities and industrial environments.
Cisco said its IP video surveillance system now can be stored directly on all Cisco IP cameras with Connected Edge Storage, which allows for automatic storage on the camera, synchronization with the video surveillance manager and seamless connectivity across both wired and wireless infrastructure.
To paint a picture of Cisco's goals for the solution, the tech giant said its ecosystem developers have built analytics applications to run directly on cameras for communication towers, oil rigs, public safety vehicles, utilities and other industrial and commercial environments.
Cisco also expanded Cisco Instant Connect, which allows authorized software developers to connect mobile devices together by downloading and SDK and integrating mobile communications into various applications.

Expanding on the opportunities presented by the Internet of Everything, Cisco is taking an open ecosystem approach to smart video cameras and instant communication to devices. Cisco's Safety and Security solutions are transforming the way people use traditional security technology to aid in smart decision making.
