My colleague Donald Bell, who writes for CNET's Crave blog, comes to us with results of a CNET Labs battery life comparison between the Zune 80's audio-only battery and the corresponding power plant of the 80GB iPod Classic.

Our labs obtained this info via battery drains. Labs can do that sort of thing, you know.

If you're a Zune fan, the results can only mean one thing. Better take along your charger.

Why?

80 GB iPod classic= 45 hours of battery life. Zune 80=22 hours of battery life with Wi-Fi sharing (which to my amazement, no one seems to give a rip about) disabled.

Zune 80- 18.5 hours of battery life with Wi-Fi sharing enabled.

Hey Microsoft, that's kind of slack.
