E-envoy Andrew Pinder and team will be able to work in virtual safely after the Cabinet Office signed a deal with security firm Tumbleweed Communications. The pilot system will allow the e-envoy's office to communicate with other government departments online in an encrypted form, protected from viruses, hackers and other threats. Martyn Richards, MD of Tumbleweed, said in a statement: "Government bodies will always be a target for unscrupulous and meddlesome individuals and as such, it is only prudent that they protect themselves." The system will also allow civil servants to track documents and authenticate the sender and reader.
