East Anglia hacking leads to data publication? Or destruction?

East Anglia to release what climate data it has.
Written by Harry Fuller, Contributor

The conservative press in the United Kingdom continues to press their case for cooked data following the East Anglia climate center hacking. The University's original stance seemEd to be: "Data! Data! I don't got to show you no stinkin' data!" That certainly fuelled the skeptics charge of "Climategate!" The skeptics forget, it seems, that the original "gate" was Watergate courtesy of the conservative President Richard Nixon and his henchmen. Now it seems the climate center at University of East Anglia will release the questioned data behind some of the emails that were hacked and released online.

Seeing conspiracy on all sides the same conservative paper suspects the government-funded BBC pressured one of their reporters to ignore the hacked email and docs. The hackers had given that BBC reporter access to the hacked material in October, five weeks before the hacked stuff appeared online.

WHAT DATA? Rupert Murdoch's "Times" reports the University of East Anglia scientists have not retained a lot of the data they used in their temperature model calculations. Of course, the East Anglians didn't do the original data collecting. It was collated from many weather stations around the globe. Presumably each weather station has its own data set going back to the start of record-keeping. But data destruction headlines make great grist for global warmer skeptics.

One group of Canadian skeptics are having a field day with a computer technician's problems with the data base and the software to deal with it. This is supposed to lead to the conclusion that all climate science is hoax-riddled. Of course, the criticism of East Anglia material doesn't deal with the basic, oberservable phenomona in nature, like melting ice sheets and glaciers.

Here's one MSM cogitation on the aftermath of the East Anglia hacking. It's a "Washington Post" editorial. [poll id="198"] IT IS IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER THAT WE OBSERVERS STILL HAVE NO CLEAR READING ON HOW MUCH OF THE HACKED EAST ANGLIA MATERIAL IS COMPLETE, AUTHENTIC OR UN-EDITED BY PERSON OR PERSONS UNKNOWN, FOR MOTIVES YET UNDISCLOSED. MUCH OF WHAT'S BEING WRITTEN NOW COULD BE SPECULATION BASED ON WRITING OF UNKNOWN ORIGIN.
