EMC said Thursday that it is partnering with Verint to offer physical security services.Verint provides IP video security software and dashboards. EMC will offer services for companies looking to design and manage physical security information management.
The move by EMC and Verint highlight how information and physically security systems are gradually merging. There's no reason to have video surveillance--and the software that helps you make sense of it--separate from information security. But too often these two sides of the security spectrum are run by different managers operating disparate IT systems.
EMC's mission in this Verint partnership is clear: Sell more storage and information management tools so companies can sort through hours of video. Verint gets a big partner to garner more sales.
Among EMC's physical security services:
- Physical security assessments.
- Design services for physical security and connectivity to other systems.
- Implementation of physical security systems. EMC will incorporate Verint's products with its storage lineup.
Separately, Verint partnered with EMC's RSA security unit encrypt call center and other phone conversations in an enterprise. The idea is to protect credit card numbers when they are given to a customer service rep via phone.
