Enterprise suites tops among software implementations

The latest ZDNet IT Priorities data show business applications breaking from the pack of current projects. Let's dig a little deeper in to the data to see which software projects organizations are spending their IT dollars on today.
And the winner is--enterprise suites--with roughly a 45% share of current software projects (enterprise suites include CRM, ERP, SCM, and financial application products and solutions). This is pretty much in line with the project activity they projected 12-months ago, forecasting enterprise suites at around 40% of all business application deployments.
Although the proportion of IT resources devoted to directory services projects has gradually declined over the past several months, these initiatives still consumed nearly 20% of software budgets. Specialized industry applications, having bumped along at 10% of software project resources over the past 6 months or so, jumped to a 20% share this month.
