Expect significant tweaks to the Microsoft-Novell Linux-use covenants

Seems the communities are not keen on the details of the agreement, but at least Microsoft and Novell seem intent on reworking the issue. Of course, the need to clean it up lends credence to the notion that they rushed this thing. And why? Was it the Oracle-Red Hat bombshell?

This in from CBR on the Microsoft reworking of the details for its recent pledge not to sue for SUSE Linux use along with Windows.

I believe it was, and that it really has to do with who controls Novell, cum SUSE. Microsoft's apparent only Linux "partner" is Novell. The Red Hat-Oracle issue may have upset that budding relationship, hence the need to speed the deal, which was purportedly in the works for six months.
I wonder if Microsoft upped the ante to the $440 million fast too? This latest twist in terms of the terms bears close watching on how this Microsoft-SUSE use fine print pans out. Pipe in now, oh Linux communities, or lose a rare window of opportunity to be heard in Redmond.
