Facebook places third: Companies young people want to work for
Facebook placed third this year in a ranking of how attractive an employer is among professionals in the US. This is a huge win for the social networking giant, considering it is just a 7-year-old company.
The results, which reveal how working professionals perceive organizations as employers, are based on a survey conducted by employment data and consulting firm Universum. The company asked 6,698 young professionals with one to eight years of experience between June 17, 2011 and September 30, 2011.
Respondents were asked to pick as many as five ideal employers out of a list of about 200. They could also write in candidates, and a total of 17,950 companies were evaluated. You can see the top 10 in the table above.
8.90 percent of young workers said they wanted to work for Facebook. Only two companies ranked higher: Google (19.67 percent) and Apple (12.74 percent).
