Finally! BigFix extends power management software to Mac OS X

Most of the power management utilities that have cropped up to manage fleets of corporate PCs understandably are focused on the Windows platform, given its massive installed base. But BigFix has now added Mac OS X support to its BigFix Power Management software, which provides a way for organizations to manage power management profiles centrally. If I'm not mistaken, this may be unique. But it's certainly more necessary, if the number of MacBooks I'm now seeing at industry conferences is any indication.

Along with the Mac support, BigFix has added a couple of new features to its software including an auto-save function that makes sure that any open documents on a system that's being shut down are saved beforehand. It also includes new historical reporting capabilities.

More information on the product, as well as the utility rebate programs that Big Fix has negotiated, can be found here.
