Five years ago: McAfee shows NT enterprise nous
McAfee today introduced McAfee Enterprise (ME!), an NT-optimised network management suite with an emphasis on security that it claims will create a new price model in the industry.
The product includes network management firewall, encryption, authentication, anti-virus, backup, help desk and remote control modules. The console for all the tools uses the Microsoft Explorer user interface. "We're betting very heavily on Microsoft technology," said Bill Larson, president, chairman and CEO. "Integrating the whole thing gives us all sorts of pricing flexibility."
A host of back-end vendors announced support for - and integration with - the ME! Suite, including Hewlett-Packard OpenView, Tivoli Systems' TME 10, and BMC's Patrol management suite.
UK pricing has yet to be finalised but in the US the product costs $125 per seat in 1,000-user licences.
