Didn't make it into NYC today for the International Auto Show, but felt it relevant to report that Ford and Microsoft are teaming up an application that will keep tabs on when your hybrid vehicle needs a recharge.

As Andrew Nusca reports on our SmartPlanet sister blog network, the energy management application is made possible by the Microsoft Hohm technology. It will provide perspective to the driver about things such as the best time (cost-wise) to charge the vehicle, as well as whether or not changing their driving habits could help them get more charge out of their charge. The software, which requires an Internet connection, will be part of Ford's electric vehicles, including the Focus Electric due next year.
