Google Latitude app available in iTunes, pinpoints users on map

Despite a brief appearance in the iTunes App Store previously, the Google Latitude app is ready to tell all of your friends and then some just exactly where you are at all times.

Despite a brief appearance in the iTunes App Store previously, the Google Latitude app is ready to tell all of your friends and then some just exactly where you are at all times.

Users can place themselves on a map for others (ideally only friends and family), with the idea of finding people in the same area to meet up and hang out.

Obviously, there's some room for worry here when it comes to privacy. Users have a few options, such as only publicizing what city you are in (which only helps if that city is really big) or hiding your location (which can be done by not using this app). However, this could actually be useful in an emergency, such as an awful case in which someone goes missing and Google Latitude pinpoints the last-known location.

Technical requirements insists on iOS 4.0 or later, so the only compatible devices are the following: iPhone 3GS/4, the 3rd and 4th generations of the iPod touch, and the iPad. The Google Latitude app is free and available to download now.
