Google Voice has finally hit Apple's App Store for the iPhone after 16 months of waiting, the company said.

As a brief recap, Google wanted Google Voice in the App Store. Apple rebuffed it. The FCC got interested. Then Google did an HTML5 Web app for the iPhone. While this scrum was underway Google Voice ran as a native app on Android and BlackBerry devices.

Now Google Voice fans will get a native app.

The feature set will look very familiar. Free text messaging, voicemail transcription and your caller ID associated with Google Voice. Google in a blog post said that it will also feature push notifications and direct access numbers in the native app.
