Google's Daydream View VR headset ships November 10

The $79 headset works in tandem with compatible Android smartphones to provide an immersive virtual reality experience.

Those with a Google Pixel phone, get ready to dive into Google's Daydream vision.

The company announced on Tuesday its Daydream View virtual reality headset will begin shipping Nov. 10. The headset has been available for pre-order since it was announced in October.

For $79, users will get the headset and a controller for interacting with virtual reality apps and games. Similar to Samsung's Gear VR platform, Daydream leverages a compatible smartphone to power and provide the screen of the VR experience.

In addition to selling Daydream View in the Google Store, various retail outlets will sell Daydream View in a total of five countries. According to Google, those stores and countries are:

  • US: Verizon, Best Buy - $79 (USD)
  • Canada: Bell, Rogers, Telus, Best Buy - $99 (CAD)
  • UK: EE, Carphone Warehouse - £69 (GBP)
  • Germany: Deutsche Telekom - €69 (EUR)
  • Australia: Telstra, JB Hi-Fi - $119 (AUD)

Currently, only Google's Pixel phones are Daydream-ready. ZTE's Axon 7 is compatible, however it will need a software update before it can work with Daydream.
