Perennial curmudgeon John C. Dvorak may be the ultimate switcher of all time. That's right, Dvorak is using a Mac. In a recent column for PC magazine ( Me and My Mac) Dvorak says "That's right. I'm using a Mac, and, surprise, I like it."
Hey, I figured since I'm known for ragging on the Mac all the time, I may as well speak from some experience, right? It's been a couple of months now, so I thought I'd report what I think about the platform from a user's perspective—specifically, from a PC user's perspective.
This from a guy who said:
- "Isn't it about time the Macintosh was simply discontinued—put down like an old dog?"
- "Will Apple adopt Windows?"
- Apple should "pull the plug on the iPhone"
- "Wake me up when this pathetic week of iPhone launch hype is over."
- The list is endless...
But then he started coming around when he wrote that Windows Vista could mark a downward spiral for Microsoft and a rising of Apple and Linux.
But it shouldn't be that surprising since Dvorak once admitted on camera that he writes all those inflammatory anti-Apple pieces to get "a lot of links and attention."
What's your favorite Dvorak Anti-Apple quote?
