Singapore, 6 January 2000 - SESAMi.com, one of Asia's first operator of a business-to-business electronic commerce portal, has announced the successful recruitment of Hewlett-Packard (HP) as a strategic supplier on its business-to-business marketplace portal, SESAMi.NET.
HP will join other strategic suppliers that have already signed on to SESAMi.NET, including Eveready Singapore, Saggio Computer, Ericsson Telecommunications, Lucent Technologies, SingTel and others.
As a strategic supplier, HP will offer buyers on SESAMi.NET products such as personal computers, network servers, printers, scanners, workstations, palmtops and storage products. Through this e-procurement route, HP aims to enable a closer customer intimacy experience by reducing time to purchase and providing a streamlined buying process.
"HP's exceptional reputation as world leader combined with its strong regional market presence will greatly enhance our value proposition as Asia's e-commerce portal. Our goal is to bring e-commerce benefits to the door-step of all enterprises throughout the region," said Ms Poh Mui Hoon, Managing Director, SESAMi.com. "With HP's participation, we are now one step closer to creating a vibrant regional e-commerce hub."
"HP is a company that is built on change and invention. We've always been a company of inventors, looking for new ways to move customers to the next level, building the best products and finding solutions to help our customers perform. Being a strategic partner in innovative e-procurement channels like SESAMi.NET is key as we move towards this vision," said Mr Dennis Khoo, E-Business Manager, Hewlett-Packard, Singapore.
Touted as Asia's first dynamic commerce portal, SESAMi.NET connects suppliers to a large and rapidly growing community of buying organizations, reducing their cost of sales and creating new sales opportunities. SESAMi.NET's unique "publish once" supplier content model allows suppliers to publish or update their product content once in SESAMi.NET, instead of having to customize that content for every buying organization. By integrating once to SESAMi.NET, suppliers can offer their customers real-time information on pricing and availability, as well as the ability to place and track orders. Connecting the region to a global trading web of online marketplaces, SESAMi.NET was officially launched on 1 September 1999. More than 80 companies have signed up as suppliers on SESAMi.NET, joining over 5,000 suppliers on the Global Trading Web.
The portal offers a centralized place where content is managed and business is transacted with the support of value-added services including financial clearance, fulfillment and information services. The growing list of interoperable portals includes marketplaces in North America, Europe and Japan. The company also offers services such as systems integration, consultancy, trading partner management, helpdesk support, training and Internet security management.
